I can honestly say that training with Christina over the past year and a half, has been the most rewarding thing that I have ever done. I began seeing Christina in April of 2014. I was shy, terribly lazy, embarrassed about my weight, and more self-conscious than I have ever been before. Christina provided me with not only the tools I needed to succeed, but also the confidence and determination.

During our first session I was very intimidated and nervous, as I was far from being an active individual; yet, she found a way to get me out of my shell and encourage me to do the best I could within my comfort level. As I continued to follow diet plans and exercise routines that were catered specifically to my lifestyle, I watched the weight melt off and my confidence rise. She has always been so attentive and encouraging towards my progress, and has been an active part in every aspect of my weight loss journey.

I began my training with Christina, a celebrity of kick boxing, about 4 years ago, realizing I needed to get in shape. I thought kick boxing might be the answer and quickly realized, it was not my forte, but weight lifting was. Having in the past been an adherent weight lifter, aerobic instructor, and even owning a gym I realized time had passed and I needed to get back in shape again. I was not there to become buffed and muscular, more to strengthen my muscles, tone my body, create more energy, and to handle the high demand business I am in.

I also found that I was always forgetting to eat because I was too busy and Christina's knowledge in nutrition was another way I benefited from her expertise. I was not a good patient in that regard but I did let some of it sink in as she helped me realize how food affects your body, soul, and mind, especially when I discovered I had a sensitivity to gluten. This was not a fad I was adhering to; inflammation from the gluten was affecting my body.

I had several injuries including hamstring tears, torn meniscus in one knee, back issues, and a broken fibula. All these injuries have now disappeared and I have become stronger and more accepting of how my body affects my day-to-day life. Christina is a friend and a professional and I would recommend her highly to anyone looking for a terrific fitness trainer. She listens to your body and what your level of tolerance is so that you don't injure yourself.

She shows you, with patience and understanding, the results that you achieve become all worth getting out of bed in the morning. From putting on that outfit you thought you would never wear, getting thru a busy day with energy to burn, and having true self esteem.

When I was first given Christina's contact information from my nutritionist, I was quite nervous to contact her. Working out had always been intimidating to me as I felt I'd never really been in shape all my life. I had no idea what I was doing when it came to fitness. I was embarrassed about how I'd completely let myself go and was worried about being judged on how I looked as I was trying to navigate my way into the fitness world. After much thought, I decided I had to do something and forced myself to contact Christina. My first training session with her was physically hard and showed how totally out of shape I was. It's something I often look back on. While I was in tears that day, I can see how far I've come. What was virtually impossible for me to do on that first session, has become almost second nature to me and I'm able to accomplish a lot more.

I started my journey February 2014 weighing in at 307lbs. Today I'm sitting at 204lbs, that's a total of 103lbs lost. I have lost a lot of fat and I've gained a lot of muscle! I am stronger, more confident and happier than I've ever been.

As I watch my body change, I am amazed as to what it can do and where it used to be and I thank Christina. I never knew my body could look like it does or that I could do the things I can today. I can't wait to see what the future looks like with my continued hard work and coaching from Christina! She is an amazing person, very motivating and has a genuine overall care and concern for you and your well being.

I have been playing competitive volleyball for the last 7 years and have had numerous accomplishments such as winning the National Team Challenge Cup with Team Alberta and training overseas with provincial and national team players in China. Along the way I have been trained by numerous athletic trainers and exposed to a vast range of methodologies and techniques. None of which have been able to come close to what Steve has done and continues to do for me.

I began training with Steve in 2011 when I was in high school and playing club volleyball. Immediately during my first session with him it felt different. Steve pushed me to my limits with his demanding but also very positive and encouraging approach to my training. Some of the previous trainers I have been with didn't seem to be able to find the fine balance between pushing me hard enough but not to unreasonable extents. It goes without saying however, that simply the right approach to training is not enough. Steve has a wealth of knowledge and experience; he knows what works and what doesn't work to become more explosive and powerful.

He doesn't just use orthodox training exercises that have been around for ages either. The majority of exercises I perform with Steve are new and innovative. Moreover the equipment Steve utilizes in his gym is all industry-leading. A piece of equipment that I have become particularly fond of is his new Watt Bike, which is used by national indoor cycling teams for their training. Then there's the Versa-Climber... it's a bit of a love-hate relationship along the lines of the hurt feels so good feeling.

And now after training with Steve for the last couple of years I feel like I am continually becoming more fit and able to compete at my fullest potential. I am truly grateful for what Steve has done for me!

I have now committed to train and race in track cycling with Steve. I will be racing Alberta provincials and Canadian nationals in 2016 with hopes of qualifying for Team Canada. I just need to go fast.

I started seeing Steve about two years ago in the hopes of prolonging my career. I had been practicing dentistry for over 20 years and was suffering from back and neck issues to the point where I needed weekly massages to function. My range of mobility was extremely limited in my shoulders and I could barely lift a 5 lb. weight over my head without getting wincing pain in my shoulders.

Steve has taken me on an incredible journey and transformation. He has an uncanny ability to read and understand the human body and in my case, work within the limitations my beat up body presented him with. His wealth of knowledge about anatomy, biomechanics and nutrition is impressive.

He knows how to gently motivate you but still push you to realize your true potential. I went from a chronic pain 145 lb. runner who had done a bunch of 10 km races and a half marathon to a toned 160 lb. runner who just finished his first 50 km Ultra trail marathon and a couple of duathalons.

He managed to unleash my true potential and let me dream bigger then I thought was possible. I'm now signed up for three 50 km Ultras this summer and will be racing my first 80 km Ultra this fall. I have Steve to thank for believing in me and being there every step of the way.

I had just finished my own certification to become a trainer and decided I should have the experience of working with someone myself before I started my own business. When I started thinking of getting a personal trainer, I was wary. After all, most of the trainers I had met were nothing more than what I would refer to as "egotistical apes". I was relieved to find out that this was not the case with Steve.

When I called Steve, I had already tried Weight Watchers, I had tried programs like Power 90 and Slim in 6 but they didn't give ME the results I wanted. 7 years after having a baby and not being back to my pre-pregnant body, I was starting to think I would always be like that... and I had waited too long. Sure I gained some strength from the programs above but I got tired with the same old workouts day in and day out and never could make it through the entire allotted time for the program. In one word, I was BORED. Training with Steve brought an interesting challenge to me. No workout was identical. Every workout tested my abilities and gave me more strength for the next one to come. All of a sudden, I started getting compliments at work. Changes that I didn't notice, others did. I started to enjoy looking at my body.

I loved the definition I could see when I moved. Definition of muscles I never knew I even had! I couldn't wait to go on vacation again, couldn't wait to wear a bikini! Best of all, I got below the plateau I had been stuck at and never able to get under in the past 7 years. Training with Steve gave me an overwhelming sense of self satisfaction. I was proud of what I had accomplished with his help. Steve doesn't let you just give up. Having him there helps to push you beyond what you think you can do. We can always go further, we just don't recognize it.

Training with Steve is fun and exciting. Yes, I said FUN! Amazing isn't it? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say there's no pain, but hey, it's all worth it in the end and to be quite honest, it isn't that bad! Nothing good comes all that easy. Steve will push you past what you think your boundaries are and help you find new ones you never knew you had. The best things about training with Steve are that he's personable, knowledgeable and he cares. I would recommend Steve to anybody looking for the best trainer your money can buy a hundred times over. Sure, you'll find others, but if you want the best, call Steve.

2009 proved to be a time in my life where the gym or weight training didn't excite or motivate me anymore. I felt like I was the most out of shape in my life, felt miserable and for the first time in my life started to pack a few extra pounds on.

Being a previous fitness Competitor and someone who had been active all my life through dance, gymnastics or competing I didn't know what to do or how I was going to over come this feeling of "everything else is more important" and how am I going to do this on my own?

Then Steve magically appeared! It was the best thing that happened to me since I stopped competing. Steve took the time to show me that training didn't have to be in a gym or something I had to hate. He incorporated cardio with body weighted exercise and as I got stronger and more in shape some resistance exercises and circuits.

I found myself looking forward to our training sessions together as Steve made it fun, we laughed a lot and thanks to him I have a renewed sense of what fitness and being in shape can be like again. Are you wondering if you need a personal trainer? If you find yourself asking this question then the answer is most likely "yes". You are probably reading this and find you are in one of two scenarios: either you want to start down the road of a fitness goal or you have been working out for some time and hit a wall with how far you can take your progress.

I started down the path of going to the gym about 8 years ago. When I started I had a choice. I could either teach myself what I needed to know or I could hire a trainer to show me what to do. I chose to teach myself. Truthfully, at the time the trainers at the gym I went to did not have the physique of someone who's career is based on personal fitness. I could not bring myself to hand someone my hard earned money that didn't at least physically represent the passion for fitness that I was trying to strive towards.

Why Steve Shiers?

I worked out on my own for years and I was able to maintain the body that I had built and was quite happy with it. I was comfortable at the level I had reached and had a great gym program to keep it up. Then something happened. I fell off the wagon. I went from being a guy that used to seek out gyms to workout at on my holidays to a guy that couldn't get himself to go to the gym right across the street from where I lived. This all happened so quickly. Missing a week at the gym turned into two weeks, then a month, then two months. I knew I had to do something and I needed help doing it. The longer I waited the harder it was going to be to deal with this problem.

I feel I fell off the fitness wagon out of pure boredom with the gym. I wanted exercise to be fun again and that is when I heard about Steve. I met Steve through a friend and decided to interview him for the job as my new trainer. In the last 7 years I kept up with my fitness education and I needed a trainer that knew what he was doing. I also became a follower of what some call "New School" fitness and wanted someone that was an expert on it. After talking with Steve for half an hour I knew he was the guy I was looking for.

Steve Shiers didn't just talk the fitness talk, he walked the walk. In fact, I think he ran the fitness run. You see, there are many trainers out there that go get the personal training certificate and will happily take your money but have zero real life experience with fitness. Think of it this way, would you want to learn a musical instrument from someone that knows the fundamentals of how to play or actually can play? Steve has a long history of physical sport and athletics and more important he is as passionate about it today as ever. He inspires because he puts in the time and pushes himself, which really lets you feel like he knows how hard you are working.

Another great attribute with Steve is he can help you with your total lifestyle with respect to reaching your fitness goals. I met with lots of trainers that don't even offer that as a service. Things like undervaluing diets when it comes to reaching fitness goals are all too common. There is a saying, "If you are not getting the results you want it is probably because of your diet". Steve covers all the bases in terms of what your lifestyle has to look like in terms of hitting your goals. Think about it, there are 168 hours in a week. You may spend 5-7 at the gym. What are you doing the rest of your time? Speaking of time, Steve is very flexible working with your schedule. Not having time to see a trainer is not a valid excuse with Steve. Actually, no excuse is a valid excuse with Steve.

The most important thing is that fitness is fun and you enjoy it. If you resent it or are bored with it you won't do it. That is what happened to me before I started with Steve. When you train with Steve, fitness is fun. It is not the boring repetitive routine of lifting weights over and over again. Every workout with Steve is different and rarely are any two the same. You might ask your self what does he do that is so different? I won't get into the specifics, but try and imagine workouts with tractor tires, water jugs, 3 inch braided ropes and sand bags. It is kind of like being a kid again and playing at the park. Don't get me wrong, you are still going to work hard, after all that is why you are there, but at least you can have fun doing it.

I have been a client of Steve,s for about 5 months now and there is no doubting the results. Anyone that has seen me has seen the change. It's your body and you only get one of them so do all you can to take the best care of it.

I have known Steve for about three years, and have been training with him for about a year. I am a 45-year-old male, with a busy family and work life.

First and foremost, what you will like about Steve is his sincere dedication to helping you lead a healthy lifestyle and to reach your goals. There is no doubt in my mind that Steve really cares about helping his clients achieve their goals. But more than that, what always impresses me about Steve is his knowledge of fitness and nutrition. Virtually every time he trains me, there is some new little tidbit of information or knowledge that helps me stay focused and motivated.

When I started with Steve, I had already suffered huge back problems for years... I had a hard time putting my socks on in the morning. I saw I Chiropractor all the time, but it made no difference. I trained in wrestling for six years when a shoulder injury prevented me from continuing in sport. I gained a lot of weight in the year after I stopped wrestling, so I called Steve to loose that weight, tone, and get back into shape.

We trained three times a week, and one day, Steve brought out the kickboxing pads. After that session, I decided that I wanted to focus only on kickboxing and muy thai. This was probably the best decision that I made other than deciding to train with Steve. Training was tough, however the more I trained, the stronger I felt, the more weight I lost and the more I felt the need to have a life style change. I was so surprised at Steve's dedication to his clients and how much he cares about them.

Steve has the ability to pin-point exactly what to do in reaching your goals. I am a hard headed individual and that is always tough to work with. While training for kickboxing, I was defiantly a hard person to train and became frustrated very easily. Steve would always put techniques into ways where I would understand them and be able to actually perform them. We set the goal that I would compete in a continuous tournament in the summer.

We worked so hard to prepare for the fight. Steve always had my back when I felt like I wasn't progressing or wanted to give up. I have never been more confident and in shape and it's all thanks to the most amazing trainer. Kickboxing is my new passion and I would have never been able to discover it if I hadn't trained with Steve. For more than a decade I was a competitive springboard diver and worked with some of the best athletic trainers. As a result of great coaching and an amazing support team, I was fortunate to compete for Canada in two Olympic Games. Had Steve Shiers been my trainer years ago, undoubtedly I would have been a stronger, better conditioned athlete.

I met Steve at the beginning of 2011 while completing my personal training certification. Before I began working with clients I wanted to put myself through the process of working with a trainer kicking my own butt back into shape after 2 babies and a few years of sitting behind a desk all day. I didn't have a specific weight loss goal, I just hoped to get my head and heart back in the game and learn a few tricks of the trade while I was at it. 9 months later, I feel more fit in my 30's than I ever was in my 20's!

Steve is the most knowledgeable and innovative trainer I've had the privilege of working with and he is also an inspiring athlete in his own pursuits. He is one of the nicest guys I've met through sport and I am deeply appreciative of the time he has taken to mentor me in the early stages of my development as a trainer and business owner. A famous quote says, "The teacher appears when the student is ready." At 2 pounds heavier than when I was 9 months pregnant, Steve appeared exactly when I needed him to. I never in a million years thought that I could let myself go in the way that I did. It became a vicious cycle of wanting to get fit, but embarrassed to go to the gym. Wanting to hire a trainer, but not sure I was committed enough to follow through. Wanting to find something to wear but I had nothing that fit.

I decided that if I could overcome my embarrassment and workout with Steve I knew we could turn things around.

I say we because working out with Steve becomes a team effort. Steve is driven and you feed off his energy and you want so badly to accomplish your goals so that he accomplishes his... which are to get you fit and healthy. I can't believe how emotional I get when I write these words but I truly have never been happier. I went from a "frumpy" mom who really didn't even want to wear shorts in the summer to a woman who has surpassed her weight loss goal, ran a 10K race, entered an adventure race, was able to dead lift my own body weight and now is training for a half marathon. Who knew the possibilities!

You walk in unsure, tentative and embarrassed. You walk out a competitor! I will never forget all the times Steve pushed me beyond my limits only to prove to me that it was my limits that were holding me back. He told me many times that your body can ALWAYS do more than what your mind thinks it can. I think of that line every day.

After my second child, sitting at 185lbs standing 5'1, I had some work to do. I was always playing team sports or running when growing up, but I became lazy. It was easier to sit around and play with my boys than go work out.

My confidence was down and I needed to do something to get back to my pre baby weight. I starting hitting the gym, swimming, bike riding, and running.

Then I was introduced to Steve who has helped me lose weight and maintain my weight at 115lbs. He's made me stronger, given me muscle mass, and has greatly improved my endurance. Having a goal and putting my mind to it, I placed well in my first triathlon. Now I'm hooked! Through hard work and dedication I have qualified for WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in London 2013.

I enjoy going to see Steve every week because when you walk in that door, you never know what kind of work out you will be getting. You never have the same workout, so you don't get bored, and when you're down, he picks you up and keeps you focused on your next goal or race.

When I started with Steve I was almost 300 pounds. That is a tough pill to swallow. Sometimes when you are that size you lose the ability to see what you are missing out on and need someone to show you. That is why I thank the heavens every time I look in the mirror or zip up my jeans or try on a size LARGE (I started in a triple extra large) that I said yes to training with Steve.

I remember the first workout I had with Steve. He asked me to do squats, and I had to use rings for assistance. I felt like I was going to die. It was humiliating, not to mention incredibly painful. I wanted to quit and never look back. Steve asked me to push through it and keep going. I didn't believe that I could, and truly felt as though I had nothing left to push with. I remember looking at Steve, feeling like I was on the brink of a mental breakdown, and he told me that I didn't believe that I could, but he knew I could.

I listened, and realized I had no clue what my own limitations were. If you had told me at the end of that day that in 5 months I would be doing 300 squats a session, I would have laughed in your face. And yet, here we are.

With Steve's incredibly unwavering belief in (as you will come to learn) everyone that is important in his life, I am on the way to becoming the person I have always wanted to be. I can do 7 cardio sessions, 6 training sessions and two 5k runs in one week, but more importantly I am confident, I believe in myself, and I know that I have the capacity to achieve whatever goals I set. So, I would just like to say one last giant THANK YOU to Steve for changing my life.
